TransAsia Airways was founded in 1951. Business began in domestic flight services and general sales agency for various foreign airlines. In the summer of 1983, TransAsia was merged with the Goldsun Group. By 1988, the government had relaunched the Open Sky policy in the airline industry, enabling TransAsia to resume its demonstrated market demand. TransAsia achieved a milestone, by carry more than 900,000 passengers, within a three-year period of domestic flight services, With this milestone achieved, and in accordance with the Civil Aviation Regulations, TransAsia was given the authorisation to operate international scheduled and chartered flight service.
